Hitler played a major role in pulling Germany through these hard times, though his overall aims may have been less than honourable. He worked his way to power in the first place by offering the German people solutions to all these problems. He encouraged traditional family values, particularly that a woman's role was at home taking care of domestic duties and rearing children. This meant that there were more jobs available for men. This provided relief for unemployment.
